The thing is I feel kind of straight because she’s kind of like a boy. [My love interest] thinks I’m straight. She’s like, ‘You’re straight; it’s just that your girlfriend is gay.’ So I’m straight, it’s just that my boyfriend’s a girl? She’s like, ‘I don’t care, whatever you’d like.’”

Happy Birthday to Ana Mendieta!
Mendieta would turn 64 today, but at age 36 she fell to her death from 34th-floor apartment. The only person present in her apartment at the time was her husband, minimalist artist Carl Andre, who was then tried for murder. He eventually was acquitted, though some say because “evidence [in his trial] was suppressed due to sloppy police and prosecutorial work.” No matter how she died, it’s a shame both her career and life were cut short.
